Context: A New Chapter

As Optimism Fractal celebrates its second anniversary and prepares to conclude Season 6, we stand at the threshold of a new chapter. We're simultaneously entering a new year (2026), launching a new season (Season 7), and beginning our third year as a community. This convergence of transitions makes it perfect timing for reflection and forward planning.

While we've accomplished incredible things over two years, there's so much more we need to achieve to reach our full potential. These thoughts might help inspire discussion - we can get much more detailed about specific goals and initiatives in the coming weeks and at upcoming events as we head into the new year. I'm eager to hear everyone's perspectives on these ideas and what other priorities you think we should consider.

1. Community Growth & Sustainability

Optimism Fractal remains a relatively small community. To fulfill our mission of fostering collaboration, awarding public goods creators, and optimizing governance on the Superchain, we need to grow strategically. This means not just increasing numbers, but attracting diverse perspectives, skills, and contributions. We should explore sustainable funding mechanisms that support our contributors while maintaining our independence and values.

2. Enhanced Superchain Integration

As the Superchain approaches interoperability and major networks continue joining, Optimism Fractal needs deeper integration with the Optimism Collective and various Superchain communities. We should position ourselves as the go-to resource for communities seeking democratic coordination tools, making our innovations more accessible and impactful across the ecosystem.

3. Software Development & Innovation

Our tools need continued evolution to meet growing ecosystem needs. This includes improving the Respect Game interface, enhancing ORDAO functionality, and developing new applications that make fractal governance more accessible. We should also focus on better documentation and educational resources to help communities implement these tools effectively.

4. Sustainable Funding Models

The question of sustainable funding remains critical. We need to explore and implement mechanisms that provide reliable support for contributors while aligning incentives with long-term community health. This might include deeper integration with RetroPGF, exploring new token models, or developing novel funding mechanisms that preserve our democratic principles.
